Joseph Frederic Bateman, 81, died May 26, 1992, at his home in American Fork, Utah.
Born January 13, 1911 in Alpine, Utah, to David William and Grace Clark Bateman. He married Belva Smith March 31, 1934 in Alpine; marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Active member of the LDS Church, served as Elders Quorum president, a Provo LDS Temple worker, and active in the High Priest group. He worked in his own business for many years and also retired from U.S. Steel in 1975. He was a member of the American Fork Lions Club, American Fork Riding Club and he loved horses. He was best known for his loving care and service to family, friends and neighbors.Survived by his wife of American Fork; two sons, two daughters, Merrill Joseph Bateman, Provo; Mrs. Fred (Beverly) Richards, Salt Lake City; Blaine S. Bateman, Alpine; Mrs. Stephen (Sandra) Hunter, Naperville, Ill.; 22 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, which he greatly loved; sister, Elva Mayne, Gypsum, Colo.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, 11 a.m. in the American Fork 8th Ward, 310 North 100 East. Friends may call at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday at the Church one hour prior to services. Burial, Alpine City Cemetery.
