An IRA car bomb exploded outside a police station southwest of Belfast, slightly wounding 10 civilians, officials said.

The car was left outside a police station at Fivemiletown, 60 miles southwest of Belfast, the Royal Ulster Constabulary said in a statement.The blast caused extensive damage to nearby properties, it said.

Ten civilians suffered minor wounds, the RUC said. No security forces were hurt.

The Irish Republican Army's South Fermanagh brigade said in a statement to Belfast media that the bomb contained 1,000 pounds of explosives.
