Dr. Clinton Bernard Wiest, age 68, beloved and respected husband, father, dentist, church leader, and friend, passed away peacefully July 8, 1992 at Utah Valley Regional Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born Nov. 20, 1923 in Price, Utah to Walter Emil and Irma Gibson Wiest. He attended Provo High School where he served as student body president. Upon graduating from Brigham Young University, he attended the University of Oregon Dental School. While in Oregon, he contracted subacute bacterial endocraditis, an aftermath of rhumatic fever which he had as a child. He was the first person in the Northwest to be prescribed the, then, unproven drug Penicillan. He graduated Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) and moved back to Provo, where he practiced dentistry for the next 42 years.He married Anna Aldous Halgren April 20, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They enjoyed 43 years of loving marriage. He served as high councilor in the Oak Hills Stake, councilor of the BYU 74th Ward, councilor and bishop of the Oak Hills 4th Ward, and councilor of the BYU 1st Stake. He was blessed with many choice experiences while serving in the LDS Church. He was a member of the Provo Rotary club where he served as president. Other civic and professional organizations include: Junior Chamber of Commerce, president of Provo District Dental Society, lifetime member of American Dental Association, member of Delta Sigma Delta Dental Society, member of Pierre Fushard Honorary Dental Association. He loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit many interesting and beautiful places with his family and dearest friends.

He is survived by his wife, Provo; one daughter, four sons, Annette (Richard) Soto, Provo; Doug (Cheri) Wiest, Sandy; Dr. Gary (Sharon) Wiest, Orem; Mark (Dana) Wiest, Salt Lake City; and Steven (Karen) Wiest, Sandy; two brothers, Dr. Walter Wiest, St. George; and Dr. Earl Wiest, Portland, Oregon. He also answers to "Papa" to 18 grandchildren. He leaves a legacy of love.

Dr. Wiest enjoyed people. Through a lifetime of service, empathy, unselfishness, respect and love, he gave us tenfold what we could give in return. We love you and will dearly miss you.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, July 13, 1992, at the Oak Hills Stake Center (north end), 1600 North 9th East. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary, 185 E. Center Street, Sunday evening 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services at church. Interment, East Lawn Cemetery.
