Directions - Take highway 14 east of Cedar City for about 25 miles. Lake is located off highway to the south.

Description - This is one of the state's more picturesque lakes. It is an oblong reservoir that is about 1/2-mile from tip to tail. In some areas it is open, in other areas pine trees line the shore. Very wooded and scenic area.

Fish: Rainbow and Brook

What works - This is a lake that does well with the traditional baits - salmon eggs, cheeses and worms power bait has been very popular. This is also a good lake for trolling spinners and pop gear. Also, a fly an bubble will work here.

Details - This is a lake that is good fishing from both shore and boat. For spinners try smaller Jake's Spin-A-Lure, panther martin or Mepps. For flies try Green Wooly Worms, Renegades and Mosquito. Good place to try using fly and blubble in the evenings. This is a deep reservoir, so when fishing from boat try different depths.

Notes - Very nice campground at the lake, also a launch ramp and a lodge. Nearby is Cedar Breaks National Monument, Strawberry overlook to Zion Park and Brian Head Ski. Recently completed project to pipe in spring water to aerate the lake in the winter to eliminate winter kill. Getting some nice brrok and rainbow carryovers, now, in the 2 1/2 to 3 pound range. There are also several small lakes in the area for variety. Excellent place for watching wildlife and for nature hikes.
