Texas physician Wilburn H. Ferguson and partner Phillip Lambro allege in their copyright infringement lawsuit filed Monday in federal court that the 1992 film mirrors a book about the doctor's 1940s cancer research in the Ecuadorian Amazon. The two say they showed the 1973 book, called "Tsanza," and a screenplay synopsis to the Creative Artists Agency in 1988. The agency subsequently packaged "Medicine Man" without giving Ferguson or Lambro compensation or credit, the lawsuit contends.
