Talk-show host Regis Philbin underwent a procedure to clear a blocked heart artery after suffering chest pains while on a cruise ship.
Philbin, 59, called co-host Kathie Lee Gifford on the air Tuesday morning to say he was fine and would return to the syndicated show next week."I had chest pains and I didn't want to tell anybody," he said. "I went to the ship's infirmary and they thought it best that I go to a hospital and have it checked out."
Philbin went to Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Medical Center in Miami and underwent angioplasty, in which a balloon is used to upen an artery. He was released Tuesday and returned to New York, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Philbin was aboard the cruise ship with Gifford to film a Carnival Cruise Line ad campaign.
