President Ezra Taft Benson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints remained in serious but stable condition Saturday in LDS Hospital, where he is being treated for pneumonia.
President Benson, 93, was admitted to the hospital Thursday.Don LeFevre, church spokesman, said President Benson is alert and responding to treatment. He is not in intensive care.
President Benson has been in frail health for some time. His last public appearance was at his wife's funeral. Flora Amussen Benson, age 91, died on Aug. 14, 1992.
