The battle of the Amy Fisher movies ended with a win for ABC's version starring Drew Barrymore as the "Long Island Lolita," but NBC and CBS entries also were hits.
CBS was the winning network for the week of Dec. 28-Jan. 3, propelled by No. 1-rated "60 Minutes" and by "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman," both the TV movie and the series premiere.CBS had a 13.2 average rating, followed by ABC with 13.0 and NBC with 10.1, according to figures released by the A.C. Nielsen Co. Each ratings point represents 931,000 homes.
The dramatizations of Fisher's crime - shooting the wife of the man she said was her lover - were hits with viewers of each network. "The Amy Fisher Story," broadcast Sunday by ABC opposite CBS's entry in the Fisher sweepstakes, was the third highest-rated show of the week.
NBC's "Amy Fisher: My Story," which got a jump on the competition by airing Dec. 28, tied for fourth with ABC's "Monday Night Football."
CBS' "Casualties of Love: The `Long Island Lolita' Story," tied with the NBC Sunday Night Movie for 11th place.
CBS' "Murder, She Wrote" finished second and the movie "Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman" tied with ABC's broadcast of the Sugar Bowl game for sixth place.
ABC's "Home Improvement" was eighth," a rerun of ABC's "Roseanne" was ninth and the premiere episode of "Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman" was 10th.
In the network news contest, ABC was first with an 11.3 average rating, CBS was second with 10.8 and NBC was third with 9.7.
