Alex, born April 9, 1987, is a bright and creative little boy who loves art and music. He's in a special-education kindergarten class due to emotional and behavior problems.
Alex has experienced and observed a variety of abuses that have left their mark on him. In addition, he has been in at least seven foster homes. Alex continually tests limits set by adults and requires a lot of structure and very firm guidelines and limits for his behavior. He is generally competitive and aggressive with other children and sometimes his inappropriate behavior clearly reflects the abuse in his life. However, at times he is quite affectionate.Alex has an older sister and a younger sister, but his social worker feels he'd do best as the youngest child in a two-parent family where he would get the attention and supervision he needs.
It is very important that he be able to visit with his sisters. Financial assistance is available to help cover some of the costs of adopting and parenting Alex.
Editor's note: Every week the Deseret News profiles a special-needs child available for adoption through the Rocky Mountain Adoption Exchange. An estimated 35,000 children are considered "special needs" because they are from an ethnic minority, disabled, older or hard to place because there are several siblings who need to be placed together. Anyone interested in a child may call the exchange at 359-7700.
