Actor Tony Danza remained hospitalized Thursday with broken ribs, internal bleeding and bruises suffered in a skiing accident, his publicist said.

Danza, 42, who appeared in the television comedies "Who's the Boss?" and "Taxi," was admitted to University Hospital Tuesday following the accident at Deer Valley.Danza, who underwent surgery Thursday for undisclosed reasons, suffered five broken ribs in the mishap. Doctors were also doing tests and waiting for the swelling to subside to determine if there were other injuries, said publicist Frank Lieberman.

Lieberman said Danza is in intensive care but is "coherent and conscious . . . he knows where he is and what happened."

Lieberman dismissed rumors that Danza suffered paralysis from the accident.

Danza was skiing with his wife, Tracy, at Deer Valley, where he has a condo, when he hit a rock and careened into a tree.
