Brandon Dart, a first-team all-state safety from Northridge High School, and Jamil Williams, an all-conference wide receiver from Grossmont junior college, told the Deseret News Wednesday that they have made verbal commitments to play football for the University of Utah.
Prep football recruits can't sign letters of intent until February, and NCAA rules forbid collegiate coaches from commenting on recruits until they are signed. Williams says he will sign with Utah as soon as he receives the letter of intent.Dart, 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, had six interceptions and was in on 125 tackles for 7-3 Northridge this fall. He also started at halfback, collecting more than 700 yards rushing and 450 yards receiving, and returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown.
Dart, who also started on the basketball and baseball teams and was a standout sprinter/long jumper on the track team last year, was recruited by BYU, Utah State, Boise State and Washington State.
Williams, 6-foot, 190 pounds, played both quarterback and wide receiver for San Diego-based Grossmont last season before he was sidelined with a broken collarbone in the sixth game. He will report to Utah next fall.
