The family of Lowell D. Smith reluctantly announce his official retirement. Today, with deep emotion, we accept the departure of our husband, father, grandfather, friend, and teacher from this mortal sphere.
He was born in Centerville, Utah, February 7, 1918, to David Felshaw Smith and Effie May Porter. He married Norma Broadbent, June 28, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. We will miss him as the patriarch of our family and as Patriarch of the LDS Ogden East Stake. He is a former bishop, high councilman, and missionary to many places-most recently on Temple Square in Salt Lake City. During World War II he served in the armed forces as a pilot and an instructor.
He is known by many others as an accomplished life insurance agent (CLU, ChFC, MDRT) and a dedicated member of the LDS Church, where he has provided skillful instruction to us and others in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We, his children and grandchildren, have knowledge of his many other talents.
He has also instructed us in hunting, fishing, skiing, bicycle riding, ping-pong, working, playing, laughing, and last but certainly not least, golfing (including driving, putting, hacking, whacking, and story telling).
His friends, family, relatives, clients and others, are invited to a celebration of his life on Saturday, December 11, 1993, at the LDS Ogden Utah East Stake Center, 1314 27th Street in Ogden, Utah, 11 a.m. Viewing Friday evening, 6-8 p.m., Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., and Saturday 9:45-10:45 am. at the stake center.
