The second segment of the Freshman Showcase will be the all-female drama, "The House of Bernarda Alba," opening May 27.

- "ANOTHER ANTIGONE," A.R. Gurney's intriguing drama about a confrontation between a university classics professor and a Jewish student, will be presented April 27-May 1 in the Monson Theatre of Weber State University's Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts.
Guest-directed by Robin Wilks Dunn of the U. of U., the play features two WSU professors as . . . two university professors.
The drama's basic conflict involves student Judy Miller (played by Kelly Collett), who decides to write a paper on Sophocles' "Antigone" in the form of a contemporary play about the arms race, instead of her instructor's assigned essay. The uncompromising professor, Henry Harper (played by WSU economics professor Richard M. Alston), steadfastly refuses to grade the essay, automatically condemning the student to a failing grade.
But the school's dean of humane studies, Diana Eberhart (played by Judy H. Elsey, WSU English professor), gets into the fray and before long the action in Gurney's play parallels the Greek classic.
In addition to Gurney's play, highlights from Sophocle's "Antigone" will be performed by a chorus of nine students as a prologue.
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, April 27-30, and at both 2 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 1. All seating is general admission. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens. Call 626-8500.
