A single-engine airplane became entangled in power guide wires near the airport and crashed Friday, leaving one man dead and two injured.
Listed as dead on arrival at Brigham City Community Hospital was the pilot of the aircraft, Roland K. Boren, 27, Clinton. Two passengers, Lymn Huston, 22, Ogden, and David Huston, 27, Sunset, were both treated for minor injuries and released.
According to officials, a call came in to the Brigham City Police Department at 9:55 a.m. indicating an airplane had crashed in the storage yard of Brigham Implement, a farm-equipment company west of town. Responding to the scene, emergency crews found the plane, a 1947 Stinson Voyager 150, had gone down approximately 1,500 feet south of the Brigham City Airport.
Witnesses said it appeared the aircraft had taken off from the airport, experienced engine problems and was attempting to turn back. At that point, the landing gear on the plane struck the wires and became entangled.
The plane spun around and, falling to the ground, it flipped end over end through the storage yard, coming to rest right side up.
