Dodger Rick Trlicek and San Diego's Gary Sheffield were suspended three games each for an episode June 10. Chicago's Jose Bautista was suspended three games for hitting San Francisco's Mark Carreon after a warning was issued June 11. Dodger Ramon Martinez was suspended five games for hitting Colorado's Charlie Hayes, triggering a bench-clearing brawl June 15. Hayes was suspended three games for fighting. Later in that game, another brawl occurred when, after a warning from the umpires, Rockie Keith Shephard hit Cory Snyder with a pitch. Shephard was suspended seven games.
