James Nathan Hale, son of William Whittle Hale and Ella Brown, born November 21, 1910 in Afton, Wyoming, was taken home to his Heavenly Father on January 30, 1994. He was founder of the GLENDALE CENTRE THEATRE, HALE CENTER THEATERS in Salt Lake City and Orem, Utah, and the HALE THEATER in Grover, Utah.
He was faithful in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all the days of his life. He served an LDS mission to the Northern States area in 1930-31, and then again with his wife, Ruth, in Nauvoo, Illinois in 1980-81.Nathan married Ruth Emma Hudson on December 22, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in December 1993. Together they have seven children, and 84 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A quiet philanthropist, he loved theater, hard work, BYU ball games, but mostly Ruth, his family and the Lord.
The family would like to thank his friends, actors and the audiences who gave him so much joy.
He was preceded in death by his son, Terry. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons, Dr. Phillip Hale and wife, Barbara, of Huntsville, Utah; and Cody Hale and wife, Linda, of Orem, Utah; daughters, Allan and (Sandra) Dietlein of Salt Lake City, Utah; Judge Pat and (Sherry) Brian of Sandy, Utah; Dr. Robert and (Sally) Swenson of Taylorsville, Utah; Dr. Lee and (Tanya) Radebaugh of Orem, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, Grandpa would like donations to be made to the Dystonia Foundation (1 East Wacker Drive, Suite 2900, Chicago, Illinois 60601-2001) on behalf of his grandson, Chad Orison, who has the disease.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 12 noon at the Taylorsville Stake Center, 1399 West 4800 South, where friends may call from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friends may also call Monday from 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Interment will be in the Taylorsville Memorial Park.
