The Marriott Library's 1994 "Ski Affair" will have an Olympic side to it this year. Honored will be key backers in Salt Lake City's bid efforts to host the Winter Olympics.
The event will be held Oct. 27 at the Red Lion Hotel. The public is invited. Cost is $30 for members of the Ski Archives Program and $35 for non-members. Reservation deadline is Oct. 24. Call 581-7791 for information.Among those being recognized for their contributions to skiing will be John W. Gallivan, publisher emeritus of The Salt Lake Tribune; former Gov. Calvin L. Rampton; James R. (Bud) Jack, former athletic director at the University of Utah and former member of the U.S. Olympic Committee; and Tom Welch, businessman and volunteer president of the Salt Lake Olympic Bid Committee.
Nick Badami, chairman of the Park City Ski Area, will be presented with the S. J. Quinney Award for Achievements and Contributions to Skiing.
