Hours after Nicole Brown Simpson was found dead, O.J. Simpson told police she had beaten him while she was drunk in 1989, the Daily News reported Saturday.
The fight left her bruised, cut and screaming to police: "He's going to kill me!"The 200-pound former football star told police that his 110-pound wife was "a strong girl. She's one of the most conditioned women. . . . She's hit me a few times, but I've never touched her," the newspaper quoted Simpson as saying.
The News obtained a transcript of Simpson's 32-minute interview with police hours after his ex-wife and a friend were found slain June 12.
Simpson told investigators that police in 1989 had refused to believe he was the victim.
"We had a fight, and she hit me . . . They never took my statement, they never wanted to hear my side. . . . Nicole was drunk. She did her thing, she started tearing up my house, you know? And I didn't punch her or anything.
"I wrestled her, is what I did. I didn't slap her at all," he said.
The police account of the fight says Nicole Simpson called police after a New Year's Eve party at the couple's mansion, and then, clad in a bra and sweatpants, ran outside screaming: "He's going to kill me!"
She had a cut lip, black eye, bruised cheek and a hand print on her neck. Simpson pleaded no contest to a wife-beating charge several months later.
