Tim Harris may not be the prettiest pass rusher, but the San Francisco 49ers don't care. They just know he can do the job and that's why they've recalled him for a second tour of duty.
With veteran defenders Richard Dent, Troy Wilson and Mark Thomas injured, the 49ers bolstered their pass rush by signing the 30-year-old linebacker Tuesday. He is expected to play Monday night against the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome.
Despite missing most of last season with the Philadelphia Eagles because of an elbow infection, then turning to the restaurant business this year, the nine-year veteran anticipates an easy transition to football.
"To me, football has always been played from the heart and has nothing to do with pads and everything else," said Harris, who two seasons ago led the 49ers with 17 sacks, second best in the NFL.
