Earl Shamblin, a newly elected city councilman of Rogue River, Ore., holds the 1977 Dwight D. Eisenhower silver dollar that was used to decide the mayoral race between current Mayor Larry Miller and Royal Deland. Deland, who asked Shamblin the call the toss in his absence, won the flip and will be sworn in as mayor.
