U. home-opener is tonight
The University of Utah women's basketball team kicks off its first two-game home stand of the season Thursday, hosting the Eastern Washington Eagles at 7 p.m. in the Huntsman Center. Utah (4-1) is looking for its fourth straight win of the season, while the 2-4 Eagles go for its second in a row.
Utah leads the series 7-1 (4-0 in Salt Lake City), with the sole blemish a 66-51 loss at EWU last year. The Utes are led by freshman guard Julie Krommenhoek (16.8 ppg, 17-of-26 from the 3-point line) and junior center Amber McEwen (14.0 ppg, 8.6 rpg). Sophomore center Hilary King-Noel scores 11.0 ppg off the bench - third on the team.

Y. women return to Utah
After opening the season with five games outside of the state, BYU's women's basketball team comes back to Utah for one more road game at Weber State (Thursday, 7 p.m.) before showing off for the home fans in two games in Provo.
Saturday's game against Oregon will be at 5 p.m. in the Marriott Center, prior to the men's game against Northeast Louisiana. Monday's contest against Idaho State will be played at 2 p.m. in the Smith Fieldhouse.

Allen earns honor
CEDAR CITY - Southern Utah forward Sean Allen was named the American West Conference player of the week on Monday.
Allen totaled 66 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 8 blocks last week as the Thunderbirds beat Cleveland State and South Alabama and lost to BYU.
