Golden State Warriors coach Don Nelson is expected to be hospitalized for up to seven days because of viral pneumonia.

Nelson didn't attend Wednesday's practice because he wasn't feeling well. Donn Nelson said his father was hoarse when the two of them talked by telephone that afternoon. After an examination by team physician Dr. Robert Albo, Nelson was admitted to Summitt Hospital on Wednesday night.

Donn Nelson said his father "has been under quite a bit of stress lately," but didn't know if that contributed to the illness.

The Warriors (8-12) have lost seven straight games. The team travels to Los Angeles to play the Clippers tonight.
