Police arrested a drunk Salt Lake man Monday for DUI and impersonating an officer after he flashed a phony badge and offered a South Salt Lake cop a job.

"I'm a police officer like you," he told South Salt Lake officer Matthew Jewkes. The man, 44, had rear-ended another car, forcing it into a third vehicle about 1:45 p.m. A breath test measured his blood-alcohol content at .191, more than twice the legal limit, according to police. The man told Jewkes he owned his own business and later volunteered that he had a gun and money in his vehicle. He offered the officer a job, saying he needed good police. Jewkes declined.

Police recovered a loaded .38-caliber handgun and $3,300 from the man's truck.
