Utah's bucking the trend when it comes to voluntarism.

While people in other states are claiming no time to help others, Utahns in record numbers are giving their times and talents to their communities. That's the finding of the Utah Commission on National and Community Service. According to director Michael Call, a survey of 411 Utah residents indicates that 950,000 people in Utah volunteer at least once a month, while 70 percent volunteer on a regular basis. Nationally, 48 percent of Americans volunteer.

The survey has a 5 percent margin of error.
