LaVaun Benson Harrison, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away December 12, 1994 at the age of 83, in St. George, Utah.

LaVaun was born July 29, 1911 in Woods Cross, Utah to Romania Barber and Ezra Taft Benson. She married H. Karl Harrison September 18, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.LaVaun graduated from Davis High School. She attended Utah State University and graduated from the Excelsis Beauty School. She and Karl moved to Cedar City after their marriage and raised their family. She worked as a nurse at the Cedar City Medical Clinic for 20 years. LaVaun was an active member of the LDS Church where she held many positions. She loved to attend the temple. LaVaun loved to travel and was an avid sports enthusiast. She enjoyed needlework, art work, sewing, gardening, and spending time at their ranch in Pinto with family and friends. Her favorite pastime was playing cards with a special group of friends.

She will be dearly missed.

Lavaun was preceded in death by her beloved husband, H. Karl Hiarrison; a sister, Evelyn B. VanScoy, and brothers, Ezra Taft Benson, Jr., and Mervyn Benson.

Survived by family members including two sons and one daughter, Karl Byron and Mary Lee Harrison of Richfield, Utah; Grant Von and Pat Harrison of Orem, Utah; Carla and C. Blair Mitchell of Washington, Utah. She has 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, who loved her dearly; two sisters, Areta B. Jensen of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Norene B. Timmerman of Astoria, Oregon; and one brother, Conway B. Benson of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 17, at 11 a.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary in Cedar City, at 190 North 300 West. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until prior to services at Southern Utah Mortuary. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery.
