Jimmy Johnson plans to announce that he has decided to stay in TV, but may return to coaching after a 3-year network contract expires, The Dallas Morning News reported today.
The former coach of the Dallas Cowboys entertained an offer from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this week before making his decision, the newspaper said, quoting sources close to Johnson.A source told the newspaper that the Eagles were willing to pay Johnson about $4 million a year.
The new Fox television network extension contract will contain provisions which will allow Johnson to return to coaching after the 1997 season.
Johnson declined to confirm that he will remain with Fox.
