You would be hard-pressed to find anybody who has had a better week than Kristine Noel.
The Layton High guard followed up a 31-point effort against Viewmont on Tuesday with a 30-point outing that helped the Lancers upset the fifth-ranked Bountiful Braves 72-62 Thursday afternoon.Noel's quick moves to the hoop created a number of fouls as evidenced by her 21 free throw attempts, of which she made 14.
Layton (3-3) led by four at the end of the first quarter but then went wild with a 27-point outburst in the second quarter for a 45-30 halftime advantage.
From there the Lancers held the Braves at bay and handed them their first loss of the season.
Tori Lee added 16 points and Christy McAtee 14 for Layton. Karie Allen paced Bountiful with 20.

Viewmont 49, Bear River 47
At Viewmont, the Vikings handed the fourth-ranked Bears their second-straight loss. Kristel Whitten and Hillary Memmott combined for 43 points for Viewmont (3-4). Lisa Richards posted 18 for Bear River (4-2).
Ogden 47, Weber 41
At Weber, the Tigers reached the break-even point for the first time this season as they took a road win from the Warriors. Jessica Carpenter and Amber Whiteaker each scored 15 for Ogden (3-3).
Northridge 44, West 43
At West, the Lady Knights took an early lead and hung on to pick up a road win against the Panthers. Amber Bailey topped Northridge (4-2) with 13 points while Kisty Flindt had the same for West (1-3).
American Fork 65, Bonneville 42
At American Fork, the third-ranked Cavewomen took a big first- half lead and cruised in the second half to sink the Lakers. Rosie Shelly and Jaycee Webster combined for 31 points for American Fork (4-0) which recorded 25 steals on the night, ruining a 20-point performance by Jennifer Jensen of Bonneville (2-4).
Logan 65, Judge 38
At Logan, the Grizzlies are proving to be yet another tough team from Region 5 as they crushed the Bulldogs. Heather Allen led Logan (5-1) with 17 points and Jeremi Covington added 16. Wendy McIntyre chipped in with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Provo 50, Kearns 36
At Provo, the Bulldogs built up a 16-point lead into halftime helping them improve to 4-3 overall. Diana Tobiasson's 14 points led all scorers, while teammate Lori Red hit 11 more for Provo.
Cottonwood 51, Jordan 39
At Cottonwood, the Colts recorded their second win in a row as they put the defensive stop on the Beetdiggers. Amanda Bigelow topped Cottonwood (3-4) with 13 points and 15 rebounds which helped drop Jordan to 2-2.
East 58, Lehi 27
At East, Elyse Stowell's 18-point effort helped the Leopards take care of the Pioneers. Charlotte Norman added 15 points for East (2-4).
Fremont 60, Ben Lomond 23
At Fremont, the Silver Wolves dashed past Ben Lomond with ten players scoring, led by Nicole Vaughn with 12 points. The win moves Fremont up to 6-1 in preseason play. Ben Lomond (4-2) was paced by Stacy Shipman's 10 points.
Pleasant Grove 52, Hillcrest 49
At Pleasant Grove, the Vikings had a hot shooting night and capitalized on a number of turnovers as they snuck past the Huskies. Tirzah Church recorded 21 points for Pleasant Grove (5-1) while Amber Pehrson scored 17 for Hillcrest (5-2).
Carbon 50, Springville 36
At Carbon, eleven Dino players scored to lead a third-quarter comeback in Carbon's third season win. Springville's Jolene Walker was the top scorer with 12 points, followed by Denise Jewkes of Carbon with 10.

North Summit 54, Morgan 53 (2OT)
At Morgan, the Indian Braves captured a thrilling win thanks to Angie Gardner's last second three-point shot to send the game into double OT. Gardner led all scorers with 16, followed by Morgan's Dallas Bice with 15.
Gunnison 57, Manti 35
At Gunnison, in a Region 12 opener for both teams, Gunnison's Jamie Stephens shot down the Templars with 23 points in her team's 22-point rout. Amber Lyons led Manti with nine points.
Millard 53, Juab 40
At Millard, the Eagles soared in their region opener as the stung the Wasps. Cynthia Olson netted 16 points and nine rebounds while Shelly Nixon had 12 steals, breaking the seven-year old school record for Millard (2-2, 1-0).

North Sevier 51, South Sevier 42
At South Sevier, the third-ranked Wolves used a 14-5 third quarter advantage to propel to a win against the Rams. Shadoe Shaheen's 13 points led the way for North Sevier (3-3, 2-0).

Salt Lake Christian 48, Meridian 22
At Meridian, the Dragonslayers held the Mongooses to single digits in every quarter to post a region victory. Kori Lenz scored 10 points to lead the way for SLCA.
Int. Christian 45, Waterford 30
At Waterford, the Lions improved to 7-1 overall with a region road win over the Wolves. Amy Shogren led ICS with 14 points and teammate Alison Stearley added 12. Jessica Dietlein topped all scorers with 20 for Waterford (5-4, 3-3).

Enterprise 63, Panguitch 31
At Enterprise, the third-ranked Wolves jumped out to a big lead and never looked back as they rolled over the Bobcats. Jamie Phelps paced a balanced-scoring Enterprise (5-2, 3-1) attack with 13 points.
Wayne 73, Piute 38
At Wayne, in their first Region 15 win, the Badgers sparked up the court with 20 points apiece from Nissa Potter and Tonya Laing. Piute drops to 0-3 in region play.
