After five straight out-of-state games to open season, the BYU women's basketball team finally had a game in Utah Thursday night, but it didn't turn out the way the Cougars had hoped.

Weber State's Nicky Wangsgard, despite playing with a broken finger, came off the bench to score 17 points to lead the Wildcats to a 71-68 home victory over their in-state foes at the Dee Event Center.Wansgard nailed five 3-pointers and pulled down eight rebounds.

BYU (2-4) was led by center Debbie Dimond, who scored 30 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Teammates Thiais Kidd and Behka Stafford scored 12 and 11, respectively.

The Cougars will open the home season Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Marriott Center against Oregon prior to the Cougar men's game against Northeast Louisiana. BYU will again be in action Monday at 2 p.m. when it hosts Idaho State in the Smith Fieldhouse.

Weber's Teresa Martin scored 12 points and Rechelle Gardner added 11 in the victory over the Cougs.
