Senior setter Charlene Johnson followed up last year's first team American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America honor with second team honors this year.

Johnson led the Cougars to a 25-4 record and a fifth straight trip to the NCAA tournament in 1994. She averaged 12.3 assists per game and was second on the team in digs per game (3.04).Her leadership and winning drive helped bring together a young team that struggled early in the year, taking them on an 18-match win streak that included three five-game victories.

Johnson is the only player from a WAC team named to this year's All-America squad. She is one of four setters receiving All-America honors. The three others, Salima Davidson of Penn State, Christy Johnson of Nebraska, and Cary Wendell of Stanford were all named to the first team.
