Utah State University's basketball team, already short of numbers, will be without flashy senior point guard Covington Cormier Saturday night when the Aggies take on Southern Utah University in Salt Lake City's Delta Center.

Cormier left for Philadelphia Thursday because of a family tragedy, said coach Larry Eustachy. It is not known how long he will be gone."It's just awful," said Eustachy. "We all struggled through practice. He was really upset."

The Aggies will be down to nine players, including Nate Wickizer, who is still nursing a sprained ankle, and Novich Hunter, who's only been with the team 21/2 weeks after coming off the football team.

USU lost redshirt freshman Cade Osborn to a season-ending injury in the preseason, and Eustachy dismissed sophomore guard Jarobi Kemp for failing to keep an appointment with the coach last week.
