Horace Sharp Young, 77, died December 16, 1994, in the Salt Lake Regional Hospital.
Born November 27, 1917, in Murray, Utah to Horace Sharp and Pearl Erickson Young. Married Ruth Dolores Shulsen June 25, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Worked hard on his dad's farm. He was a Deseret News newspaper boy. He graduated from Jordan High and served a four-year apprenticeship for D & RG Railroad as a sheet metal worker and pipefitter. He worked there for 18 years and then for Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement. He loved gardening, working out in his "Dust Bin" building things and taking his family on vacations. He was a statistical ward clerk in the old West Jordan 1st Ward under three bishops for 14 years.Survivors: Wife, Ruth, children, Monty (Shirley) Young, David (Dixie) Young, Marianne Young and Michael Ren Young. Also survived by ten grandchildren; brothers, Grant and Marshall Eugene Young, and sisters, Dorothy Cowell and Marjorie Volkel.
His life can be summed up this way: He was an honest man...with a keen sense of humor!
Funeral services will be Monday, December 19, at 2 p.m., at McDougal West Jordan Mortuary, 1861 West 7800 South, with viewing one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment at the West Jordan City Cemetery.
