James Ross Allen, 78, died from cancer Friday, December 16, 1994, at home.
He was born October 18, 1916, in Charleston, Utah, a son of Thomas Warren Allen and Harriet Margaret Smith. He married Mae Blackley March 18, 1937, in Salt Lake City. The marriage was solemnized February 16, 1938, in the Salt Lake Temple. Mae died February 20, 1986. He married Mabel Lindsay Anderson October 1, 1986, in the Salt Lake Temple. Ross lived in Preston, Idaho, before moving to Draper. He was very active in the LDS Church, serving in his High Priest Quorum and various ward callings. He and Mabel served in the Tallahassee, Florida mission in 1988. He was active in his community and served as a member of the Jordan School District Board of Education. He was foreman at Draper's IFA, where he worked for 40 years.He was preceded in death by three brothers and is survived by: His wife; his children: Barbara (Blaine) Worthen, Logan, Utah; William R. (Sharon) Allen, Sandy, Utah; his step-children: Karma (Nile) McDonald; Joseph (Dorcas) Anderson; Bill V. (Sarah) Anderson; Alyce (Donald) Brown; Ava (Thomas) Tice; brother, Marvin M. Allen; sisters, Grace North, Marie VanWagoner, and Golda Allen; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 21 step-grandchildren and 19 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m., Draper 2nd Ward, 1617 East 12700 So. Friends may call Monday, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State, and Tuesday, one hour prior to services at the church. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Heber City Cemetery.
