The artists, galleries and specialty shops on West Pierpont present their second annual Holiday Shopping Event. The artist's studios and shops will be open to the public the weekend of Dec. 16, 17 and 18. The Artspace neighborhood is a unique blend of artists' studios, gallery space and specialty shops located on West Pierpont Ave. (250 S.) between 300 and 400 West. Some of the artists/shop participating are: Lori Mehan, Dennis Mecham, Lynn Brite, John Wayne Cook, Diane Douglas, Andrea Martin, Brent Gehrig, Robin Lee Roberts, Eclectic on Pierpont, Elemente, Art Access Gallery and Brett Colvin.
- The Society of Decorative Painters donated more than 1,400 hand-painted Christmas tree ornaments to the White House. The originally designed ornaments will decorate two trees. All the ornaments are four to 8 inches long and weigh no more than 6 ounces. Also, six of the Society's top painters submitted a variety of hand-painted decorative pieces for use in Vice President Al Gore's residence and are featured in the Christmas issue of Ladies Home Journal which appeared on news stands Nov. 15. One of the artists, Judy Duarte, from Virgin, Utah, donated a hand-painted plate.
