A suite of original jazz compositions by Larry Jackstien will be featured at the second annual Winter Solstice Jazz Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 21, at the Cathedral Church of St. Mark.
The concert, the first in the 1994-95 Music at St. Mark's season, begins at 7:30 p.m. Performing will be the Larry Jackstien Trio, featuring Jackstien on piano, Lars Yorgason on bass and Jay Lawrence on drums. They will be joined by vocalist Jill Jackstien and saxophonist Jim Jackstien.The "Winter Solstice Suite," written especially for this concert, consists of eight pieces on winter themes. Also on the program: three familiar mood pieces, including "Nica's Dream," and "I Wonder as I Wander," "O Little Town of Bethlehem" and the traditional closer, "Amazing Grace."
Suggested donation is $5, with a reception following in Spalding Hall.
