More than 20 cars derailed in the Jordan Narrows just north of Camp Williams Sunday. The northbound Southern Pacific freight derailed just before noon as it was rounding the sharp curve at about 17200 South just east of Redwood Road. Crews were brought in immediately to begin cleanup, which is expected to take two days. Neither crew member was injured, and there appeared to be no hazardous materials aboard, although the fuel tank of one engine was ruptured. Crews took immediate steps to stop the fuel from reaching the Jordan River. The train was hauling grain from Colorado to California. Cause of the derailment is under investigation.
