Walter Keith Wilson died suddenly, yet peacefully, March 20, 1994 at a local hospital.
He was born March 26, 1907 in Ogden, Utah, the second son of William J. and Rozetta M. Nelson Wilson. He married Gladys Minnoch Oct. 26, 1934 in the Logan LDS Temple. She died in 1974. He married Dr. Marian Robertson Feb. 13, 1979 in San Francisco. This marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.After completing his early education in Ogden, Keith served an LDS Mission in Germany (1926-1929). Upon his return home, he attended Weber College, and later graduated from the University of Utah (1933). He also did postgraduate work at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Washington in Seattle. A veteran of World War II, he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. A strong and compassionate man, Keith devoted his life to serving others. During the 1930's, he worked in the Weber County Departqments of Vocational Rehabilitation, Welfare, and Child Welfare. In 1939 he joined the newly organized State Department of Adult Probation and Parole. Appointed Chief Agent in 1952, he moved to Salt Lake City where he henceforth resided. He retired in 1971. An active member of many professional organizations, he also served on numerous state committees related to Corrections and Social Services.
Keith loved horses, boating, skiing, and was a licensed pilot.
He is survived by his widow of Salt Lake City; a brother, Morrell C. Wilson of Moses Lake, Washington; a special nephew, A. Brent Rackham, also of Salt Lake City; and many other beloved nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Private graveside services on Thursday, March 24, 1994 at 12:30 p.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery. A special memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 26 at 12 noon at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 So. Highland Drive, where family will greet friends one hour prior to services.
