The BYU men's golf team shot seven-over-par Friday morning on the Tucson National Golf Club course and is in seventh place after the second round of the NCAA West Regional.

Brad Sutterfield shot a 72 to lead the Cougars, who are at 581, twelve strokes behind UNLV's 569. Fresno State is second at 573, Arizona State is third with 574, followed by Stanford and San Jose State at 578, defending West Regional champion Arizona at 580, BYU 581, Oregon State 583, New Mexico and Pacific at 585, Southern Cal (586), UCLA (587), Cal-Santa Barbara and Pepperdine (588), Boise State (596), UTEP (602), Weber State (605) and San Francisco (613).The top nine teams and the top three individuals will advance to the NCAA championships June 1-4 at the Stone bridge Country Club in Dallas, Texas.

The individual leader is Fresno State's Joe Acosta at 134.

Four players are tied for second at 139. They are Todd Demsey of Arizona State, Edward Fryatt of Nevada-Las Vegas, Anthony Kang of Oregon State, and Ryan Mitchell of California-Santa Barbara.
