Of all the Utah bands playing "alternative-rock" styles, perhaps none had the potential of Provo's Swim Herschel Swim.

The local ska act actually headlined shows in California and other states after upstaging several touring ska acts, among them No Doubt and the Specs. However, after releasing their full-length album "Burn Swim Burn" this year, the group decided to call it a day, with members moving on to other bands, including the Swim Pigs.

Despite their considerable success on the local level, Swim Herschel Swim never got its proper send-off . . . until now.

The band will headline a Tuesday, Aug. 30, show at the Edge dance club, 143 W. Center, Provo.

Opening the show at 8 p.m. will be local acts Clover and Nectar. The latter act will also be calling it quits after the concert.
