Karen Louise Halverson, age 26, passed away peacefully, January 9, 1995 in Salt Lake City, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born February 4, 1968 in Salt Lake City, to John L. and Carol Ann Sowards Halverson. Karen graduated from Cottonwood High School. She achieved a certificate in PC skills and software from Wasatch Career Institute that she used in her employment with Pegasus Creative Enterprises. Karen loved to help others to grow and develop their talents. She was vivacious and faced her challenges head first.Karen was a member of the LDS Church and served a wonderful mission in London, England. She served as Relief Society President and held several other callings as teacher. Karen loved the Lord and the Gospel and touched many lives.

Survived by parents; brothers, Stephen Halverson (Mary), and Daniel Halverson; sisters, Laura Peterson (Wayne), Joyce Yingling (Kirt), Linda Halverson; eight nieces and nephews; and grandmother, Ruth Sowards. Preceded in death by grandparents, Lionel J. and Anne L. Halverson, Leland N. Sowards.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 14, 1995, 12:30 p.m., Little Cottonwood Stake Center, 6180 South 855 East, Murray. Friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, and Saturday, 11-12:15 p.m. at the church. Interment: Mtn. View Memorial Estates.

The family would like to thank the medical professionals at the University Medical Center Oncology staff for all their help and the many friends whose prayers and thoughts were with Karen daily.
