Martina Ertl used her daredevil style and mistakes by top rivals Sunday to give Germany its first women's World Cup slalom victory in more than seven years.

Ertl made a mistake on the upper part of the Gudiberg course, but regained her balance and made it to the end with a combined time of 1 minute, 22.54 seconds for two runs.Deborah Compagnoni of Italy, winner of a giant slalom last week in Austria, was second at 1:22.67. Gabriela Zingre-Graf of Switzerland was third at 1:22.83.

"I made a mistake at the top and I didn't believe that I'd finish among the top three," Ertl said.
