Rocco James Di Lauro, Sr., died on October 21, 1995, in Salt Lake City after a short illness.

Born in New York City May 28, 1921, to Rose Antoinelli and James Vincent Di Lauro. He was the fourth of ten children. He entered the Army in September 1940, and while stationed at Salt Lake Airbase he met Virginia Russell; they were married November 8, 1941, in Fillmore, Utah. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple May 16, 1973.They are the parents of Patricia, Rosemary, Jim (Robyn) and Frank, who preceded him in death on May 28, 1994. They have 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by eight brothers and sisters: Stella Miasto, Michael De Laura, Daniel De Laura, Anna Starley, John De Laura, Frank De Laura, Rita Suma, and Jean Olivero. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

He was a veteran of World War II. He served for many years as a Scoutmaster. Member of the LDS Church and served in the 4th Ward Bishopric. He was also on the High Council of Temple View Stake. He was loved and respected by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed. He was a friend to the homeless traveler and to anyone in need. His greatest mission in life was his family and his only desire was to take care of them. He retired from Safeway in April 1986 after 39 years of service.

There will be a viewing at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, on Wednesday, October 25, 1995, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at the Haven Ward, 2275 South 300 East at 11 a.m. October 26, 1995, with viewing from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be at the Valley View Cemetery with military honors.
