Have you seen the new jazzed-up Teddy Grahams? These active little bears are coated in chocolate or vanilla frosting with sprinkles to boot, and they've taken up skateboarding, biking and skiing. A 10-ounce box will set you back $2.09.
Don Russell (married, five children at home, ages 6-16): "I don't think these frosted graham crackers will be on many grocery shelves a year from now. Our vanilla-frosted animals didn't even go over well with our younger kids. However, in fairness to Nabisco, there was a lot of competing Halloween candy around the house. This version of deluxe animal crackers seems to be off the mark by quite a bit. We were far from impressed."Edyth Jensen (married, three children at home): "We tried the Dizzy Grizzlies with the chocolate frosting and sprinkles. The frosting and the colorful sprinkles are very attractive to the younger set. With frosting, the cookie is more moist, but it didn't seem to make them much sweeter or improve the flavor that much. The biggest drawback to the chocolate frosting is that it makes the cookie even more messy. I doubt we will buy this particular flavor again. We will stick to the plain Teddy Grahams."
Nihla Lake (married, two children at home): "The description on the box read: `a bearageous delicious snack!' Our family agreed because we all like grahams. The chocolate frosting on the backside was mild and covered entirely with little colorful, crunchy, candy sprinkles. These are a good treat to keep around for the grandkids."
Linda C. Tingey (single mother, two teenage boys at home): "My grandkids were crazy over these vanilla Dizzy Grizzlies. Even my big kids loved them. With a glass of milk, this is a wonderful snack. The box disappeared in a real hurry. I will buy these again."
Rich Firmage (married, four children, oldest 10 years old): "The kids liked these a lot. I thought they were good myself. The magic eye on the back of the box was fun, too. We tried the chocolate frosted flavor with sprinkles. We just might buy these again."
Bill Allred (single): "These are new Dizzy Grizzlies and what they are is frosted Teddy Graham crackers. I could care less about the cute little rollerskating, skateboarding, windsurfing, skiing, bicycling bear shapes, but I do like the taste.
"With all the fat and calories in these treats it would be a good idea to engage in the same activities as these teddy bears do to work off some of the pounds you'll put on after eating a few handfuls. They are tasty enough to keep you munching way beyond the number you should."
Conclusion: This vote went 4-2 in favor of these zippy little graham cookies. If you elect to bring Dizzy Grizzlies home, your small fry will probably make short work of them.
