With an amazing 18,000 percent growth between 1991 and 1994, Erudite Software & Consulting Inc., 406 W. South Jordan Parkway, was named the fastest-growing company in Utah by the Moun-tain-West Venture Group Wednesday.

Officials of the company, along with representatives of the other 99 winners in the group's first naming of Utah's 100 fastest-growing companies received a silver-framed plaque and certificate signed by Gov. Mike Leavitt, Dale Richards, chairman of the group; and John N. Knab, group president, during a luncheon in the Salt Lake Marriott.More than 2,000 applications were received in the group's first Utah 100 project and the ranking was prepared under the direction of KPMG Peat Marwick, Salt Lake City.

To be considered for the list, applicants had to be a Utah-based organization, be a U.S. corporation; have a minimum of sales in 1990 of $25,000 and have a sales growth change from 1990 through 1994. To qualify for the list, firms must have a minimum of 200 percent growth in the four years.This year the 100 companies averaged 322 percent growth.

The average Utah 100 company grew from $4 million in 1990 to nearly $17 million in 1994.

In another category of the top revenue growth companies, Franklin Quest Co. was first followed in order by R.C. Willey Home Furnishings; Megahertz Corp.; FHP Health Care of Utah Inc.; Zions Bancorporation; Enrich International Inc.; Covey Leadership Center; Teltrust Inc.; Lifetime Products Inc.; and ZCMI.

Following Erudite in the fastest-growing category were Phonex Corp.; C&D Marketing Inc.; Den-trix Dental Systems Inc.; CALI Inc.; Onyx Graphics Corp.; Enrich International Inc.; Megahertz Corp.; Freedom Mortgage Corp.; and Create A Check Inc.
