Murvin LeRoy Colby, 76, of Richfield, Utah died Sunday, December 10, 1995 in Provo, Utah.
Born May 13, 1919 in Salina to LeRoy and Sarah Elizabeth Crane Colby. Married Vonda Geneal Littlewood March 5, 1951 in the Manti LDS Temple. He attended schools in Salina. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart.He had been involved in law enforcement in Sevier County for several years. He was a deputy with the Sevier County Sheriff office and served as Chief of the Richfield City Police Department. He was a mechanic at U.S. Gypsum in Siguard for 20 years, retiring in 1986. He was an avid ham radio operator.
Survived by wife, Geneal, Richfield; three sons, one daughter and their spouses: Ronald and Elaine Colby, Kearns; Kent and Nicole Colby, Salt Lake City; Marie and Fred Christensen, Annabella; Russell and Marla Colby, Richfield; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister, Therresa and Maurice Rasmussen, Salina; Joseph Darwin and Wana Colby, Orangevale, California. He was preceded in death by parents, two daughters, Jacquelyn and Debra Colby; three brothers, two sisters, June Monroe, Vee Colby, Donald Colby, Burnell Miner, Gerald Colby; two grandchildren; Todd Christensen and Karie Colby.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 1995 at 1 p.m. in the Richfield 9th LDS Ward Chapel, 159 North 400 West, Richfield. Friends may call at the Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery with Military Rites by the Salina American Legion Post #36.
