A local civic and church leader has been appointed president of the Mormon Miracle Pageant.

Douglas Dyreng, a member of the Manti City Council, a Snow College faculty member and a former LDS bishop, succeeds Lee R. Barton as pageant president.Dyreng said Ron Hall will continue as the pageant's managing director, and most other production chairmen will also continue to serve.

The pageant this year will be presented earlier than usual on Temple Hill - July 6-8 and 11-15.

Dyreng is a member of a family who has had a long association with the Mormon Miracle pageant. His father, R. Morgan Dyreng, was also the pageant president, and his mother, Helen B. Dyreng, is an assistant director.
