The punk-rock lifeclock for 7 Seconds still keeps on ticking.

One of the most influential bands in the formation of the hard-core "straight-edge" movement, the trio that formed the band - guitarist/singer Kevin Seconds, bass guitarist Steve Youth and drummer Troy Mowat - still remain dedicated to punk-rock after more than a decade in the "scene."That dedication has apparently paid off, finally, as the band has been signed to Immortal Records, a subsidiary of Sony Records, and is preparing to release its as-yet-untitled, major-label debut in October. The group is touring in advance of the album, including a Tuesday, Sept. 19, date at Club DV8, 115 S. West Temple.

Besides fellow punk-rockers Shades Apart, the show bill also includes "ska-core" acts Jack Kevorkian & The Suicide Machines - from Michigan - and Buck O'Nine - from San Diego.

Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7 p.m., are $7 in advance from the Heavy Metal Shop and Raunch in Salt Lake City.

- The Vandals have been around almost as long as 7 Seconds but haven't been as fortunate holding on to original members.

On "Live Fast, (Bleep!)," the quartet's newest release and first on Nitro Records - a label owned by the Offspring's Bryan "Dexter" Holland - only guitarist Warren Fitzgerald returns from earlier group lineups. However, tongue-in-cheek numbers from Fitzgerald and vocalist Dave Quackenbush - featuring titles like "Not in my Backyard," "Tonight I Have a Date" and "Fight the Moustache Power" - are as punk-rock as anything the Vandals have done to date.

Short of pillaging Salt Lake, the Vandals will pull out all the punk-rock stops during their Wednesday, Sept. 20, concert at Club DV8.

Punk acts Strung Out, Blink and Blue Tip also join the Vandals for the show, which starts at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for the Vandals show are $7 in advance from Raunch and the Heavy Metal Shop in Salt Lake City, Crandall Audio in Orem and Black Dog in Logan. The concert is a Cashmere production.
