Here is a list of haunted houses and related Halloween activities along the Wasatch Front:

Alien Encounters Haunted House, 5959 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville. Nightly, except Sundays, through Nov. 2, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on weeknights and until 11 p.m. on weekends. Admission: $6 weeknights, $7 weekends ($1 discount with the donation of a nonperishable can of food).Enchanted Woods at the Treehouse Children's Museum, Ogden City Mall, open weekends (Fridays from 4 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 1 to 6 p.m.). Admission: $5 for children (half-price for members). Parents and grandparents admitted for free.

Frightmares at Lagoon, Lagoon Drive, Farmington, Thursdays-Saturdays through Halloween. Also Monday-Wednesday during the last week of October. Lagoon opens at 6 p.m. on weeknights and 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Closing time is 10 p.m. weeknights and 11 p.m. on weekends. Admission is $15, which includes the spook alleys, musical performances and all rides (the Lagoon A Beach water park is closed). Toddlers, 3 and under, are $7. "Spook-a-Boo Alley" is a less frightening experience for little children (6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Saturdays).

Great Pumpkin Party, Children's Museum of Utah, 840 N. 300 West, Friday, Oct. 25, 3 to 7 p.m. Tickets ($5 with a discount for museum members) must be purchased in advance. Call 328-3383.

Halloween Carnival, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, at the Kiwanis Felt Recreation Center, 440 S. 900 East. Free for children 2 to 12 and their parents.

Halloween Hoot, kids party at Tracy Aviary, Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 5 to 8 p.m.; spooky pathway and treats handed out by the Great Pumpkin, followed by ghost stories in the Liberty Park amphitheater. Admission: $1.50 per child (accompanying adults free of charge). Costumes are a must, but dress warmly. Bring your own flashlights and trick-or-treat bags. Address: 589 W. 1300 South.

Haunted Forest of Dr. Fright and Mt. Pleasant Pumpkin Patch, east of city cemetery. Haunted Forest nightly except Sunday, Oct. 24-31, from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission: $4 each. Adjacent pumpkin patch: Oct. 28-31 (free).

Haunted Fort at Hogle Zoo and "Boo at the Zoo" is a one-day only benefit on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the zoo's education programs, sponsored by US WEST. Admission is regular zoo admission plus $1 per person. The zoo will have a free "Stomp and Chomp" party, Saturday, Nov. 2, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., when some of the zoo's animals will help recycle your old UNCARVED and UNPAINTED pumpkins. Bring them to the main entrance by no later than 10:30 a.m.

Haunted Hayride, at dusk on Oct. 18, 19, 21, 25, 26, 28 and 31 at 996 N. River Road in Midway. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children (11 and under), with group rates available. Call 654-6357 for reservations.

Haunted Woods at Wheeler Farm, 6351 S. 900 East, Murray, nightly except Sundays through Oct. 31, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on weeknights and until 10:30 p.m. on weekends. Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 3 to 11. "Monster Mash Revue," a stage show, is free on the Activity Barn Stage every evening except Wednesday and Fridays, when there will be a Country Dance at 8:30 p.m. for $5 admission. Daytime behind-the-scenes tours are 2 to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. on Saturdays.

Institute of Terror, 1300 S. 300 West in Salt Lake City, nightly except Sundays through Oct. 31. Open weeknights from 7 to 10 p.m. and weekends until 11 p.m. Admission is $8 ($6 for children under 10); $1 off with a can of food.

Kaysville Recreation Center Haunted House, 50 E. 100 North (behind the Kaysville City Library). Open 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24; 7 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 18, 19, 25 and 26, and 7 to 10 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, Oct. 28-30. Closed Halloween night. Admission is $3 for adults and youths and $1.50 for children 11 and under.

Lighthouse Events Center, south of Cottonwood Mall, Holladay, has a Junior Haunted House, nightly except Sundays, through Oct. 31. Call 277-2062 for times. Admission is $3 for children 2 to 12. Parents are free.

March of Dimes Haunted House, 3400 S. State, South Salt Lake. Open through Nov. 2, on Monday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays until 11 p.m. Closed Sundays. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for children 8 and under. Discount coupons available. Group rate tickets are available in advance at the March of Dimes office, 205 W. 700 South, for $4 each for groups of 10 or more. Also a "Haunted House Jr." for little kids, 5 to 8 p.m. ($3 admission).

Nightmare at the Grand, Salt Lake Community College South City campus, 1575 S. State St.; nightly except Sundays through Oct. 31, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under, with discount coupons available.

Pumpkin Festival, This Is the Place State Park, Saturday, Oct. 19, 1 to 5 p.m. Free admission. Jack-o'-lantern carving, apple cider pressing, outdoor pumpkin cooking demonstrations, straw-man stuffing.

Rocky Point Haunted House has two locations: Ogden City Mall and 3500 S. State, in South Salt Lake. Open Tuesdays through Saturdays through Halloween, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. on weekdays and until midnight on weekends. A Pumpkin Patch child-care room is available for small children. Admission is $6.

The House, at the Utah State Fairpark, 1000 W. North Temple, Salt Lake City. Open seven days a week through Halloween from 7 p.m. until midnight Sunday through Thursday and until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday night. Children 8 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Young children may wait at the door (with staff) for their parents to return. Admission is $8. Special "Kids Day" on Sunday, Oct. 27, with free admission 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., allowing youngsters a behind-the-scenes look at the haunted house.

Utah State Hospital Haunted Castle, 1300 E. Center, Provo. Nightly except Sundays, through Halloween. Hours: 7:30 to 10 p.m. on weeknights and until 11 p.m. on weekends. Admission $5. For group discounts, call 344-3208.
