Douglas Taylor Silver, age 70, of Indian Wells, passed away Dec. 12, 1996 at home of cancer.

He was born Dec. 21, 1925 at home in Salt Lake City, UT to Lovina Boyes Taylor and John Watson Silver. He married Dawn Elizabeth Jones on Sept. 27, 1986 in Blackhawk, CA. They have one son, Gavin and daughter, Sarah, will be born in March.Mr. Silver had been owner of Silver Metal Products, Livermore, CA, a designer and manufacturer of contruction framing devices.

He has been a private pilot since 1959. He was a veteran and served in the South Pacific during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was a member of AOPA, served as a member of the newly formed Palm Springs Air Museum. He was a distinguished founder for the McCullum Theater, a scholarship sponsor for College of the Desert. Mr. Silver also developed and owned Silver Fueltron, National Fabtronics and Corporate News. He was heavily involved in industrial real estate development. He was a creator and had patented numerous devices over his lifetime.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lovina Silver; a brother, John Taylor Silver; and a sister, Afton Osguthorpe, all of Holladay, Utah. Survivors include his wife, Dawn Silver, Indian Wells; five daughters, Joyelyn Spival, Palm Desert, CA; Joanne Carpenter, Gleneden, OR; Nancy Tehero, Phoenix, AZ; Vickie Silver, Concord, CA; Stacy Gregorson, Irvine, CA; two sons, Gavin Taylor Silver, Indian Wells, CA; Steve Silver, Danville, CA; sister, Ruth Neilson, Holladay, UT; brother, Ralph Silver, St. George, UT; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be Sunday, December 15th, 1996 from 5-8 p.m., Palm Springs Mortuary, 69855 E. Ramon Road, Cathedral City, CA. Services will be held Monday, December 16, 1996 at 11 a.m. in the LDS chapel, 72960 Parkview Drive, Palm Desert, CA. Burial and 21-gun salute will be held December 17th a 1 p.m. at the Holladay cemetery, 4900 Memory Lane (1990 East).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Primary Children's Hospital, 100 North Medical Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84113.
