Murder charges were filed Tuesday against three people prosecutors say each played a role in the slashing death of a drug cohort last month.
John Peter Kiriluk, 24, Damon R. Munford, 29, and Rebecca Munford, 28, were each charged with murder, a first-degree felony, in 3rd Circuit Court for their part in stabbing Michael B. Brown to death on March 22 and then dumping the body near 15700 South and 3200 West in Bluffdale.A group of people hiking near the area found the body then notified Salt Lake County Sheriff's officials. The charges say officers located Brown's body "whose throat obviously had been slashed."
The assistant medical examiner further determined the victim had been hit twice shortly before being stabbed in the neck.
Kiriluk told investigators he and Damon and Rebecca Munford were upset with Brown because "he had wasted some drug ingredients," the documents say. They drove to Bluffdale in the woman's truck and Kiriluk and Damon Munford pulled Brown out of the vehicle.
Brown was forced to "kneel on the ground and with Rebecca Munford's knife, Damon Munford struck Brown in the neck and killed him," the charges state.
Bail for the three suspects was set at $250,000 each.
