Eight new mission presidents have been called by the First Presidency. The mission presidents and their wives will begin their service about July 1. The new mission presidents and their assignments are:

- E Ray Bateman, 58, California Carlsbad Mission; St. Charles 1st Ward, St. Louis Missouri North Stake; branch president's counselor; former multi-region welfare agent, high councilor, stake mission president, bishop and counselor, Sunday School teacher, priests quorum adviser, Explorer adviser, and missionary in the Canadian Mission; retired sales manager of Bristol-Myers Squibb Co.; attended BYU and the University of Utah; born in Murray, Utah, to Marlon Samuel and Mary Armstrong Bateman; married Mira Odette, five children. She is a stake missionary; former stake Young Women president's counselor, Relief Society president and counselor, Primary teacher and inservice leader, Young Women and Primary president, Relief Society teacher, and librarian; born in Long Beach, Calif., to Leonald Alphonse and Mildred Freda Paulson Odette.- David L. Beck, 43, Brazil Rio de Janeiro North Mission; Mueller Park 7th Ward, Bountiful Utah Mueller Park Stake; bishop; former bishop's counselor, elders quorum president and counselor, deacons quorum adviser, and missionary in the Brazil North Central Mission; president of Pro-Mark Inc.; received bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and master's degree in engineering administration from the University of Utah; born in Salt Lake City to Wayne Moore and Evelyn Williams Moon Beck; married Robyn Ericksen, four children. She is a Relief Society teacher; former Young Women president and counselor, Primary president's counselor, and Primary teacher; received bachelor's degree in English from the University of Utah and attended Utah State University; born in Salt Lake City to Max Ray and Lelsle Grames Blunt Ericksen.

- Fred C. Dimaya, 50, Philippines Tacloban Mission; Binan 1st Ward, Las Pinas Philippines Stake; bishop; former regional representative, mission president's counselor, stake president and counselor, stake employment specialist, and branch president; area human resource manager for the Church; received associate's degree in English literature and philosophy from the University of the Philippines and University of San Carlos, bachelor's degree in preparatory medicine from the Cebu Institute of Technology, and studied medicine at the Cebu Institute of Medicine; born in Dumaguete City, Philippines, to Pedro Damo Dimaya Sr. and Venida Piedad Cabanos Dimaya; married Maria Leonardo, nine children. She is Young Women president; former stake Primary president, ward Relief Society and Primary president, seminary teacher, and chorister and choir director; attended the University of Santo Tomas; born in Nasipit, Philippines, to Armando Hunt and Amelia Guison Morelos Leonardo.

- Larry O. Haslam, 62, Japan Tokyo North Mission; Northwood Ward, Logan Utah Cache Stake; former stake president, high councilor, stake Young Men president, bishop and counselor, Young Men president, elders quorum president, and missionary in the Japan Mission; high school administrator; received bachelor's degree in history and political science and master's degree in history and education from Utah State University, and certificate and degree in school administration from Idaho State University and Arizona State University; born in Lewiston, Utah, to Joseph Kerr and Zetta Marler Haslam; married Priscilla Wade, four children.
